D3ATH RACE (ZOOM) SURPASSES 1K VIEWS ON YOUTUBE

The cover art for D3ATH RACE (Zoom)

Before I start this blog post, I just have this to say, WOAH. I did not expect D3ATH RACE (Zoom) to surpass 1 thousand views on the DJ Leeloo YouTube channel. Thank you all so much for the support on the track. To celebrate this amazing milestone, I will talk about the history of the track and reveal a new project containing an alternate version of the track.

The beginning of 2024 was bittersweet for me, and I was tempted to go back into hiatus again. However, there was a gap that needed filling with my spare time at college. I had some loops stored on my computer’s storage that I decided to play around with, I ended up with these two loops; a rap acapella and a hip hop melody.

When I combined the two after pitching up the melody loop by one semitone, I went “What the?! This is absolute fire” and decided to build the track around those two loops.

I produce a lot of genres of music, but one genre in particular I keep producing time and time again is Bass House. Bass House is a combination of three different genres of music: Fidget House, Dubstep and Garage. The swung rhythm is from Garage as well as Fidget House, the basslines are from Dubstep and Fidget House. Bass House is notable for its structure around rap vocals and Hip Hop melodies.

I made the track around April this year, producing it mostly in my studio at home and the studio at Kingston College. I vividly remember one of the teachers coming in the studio and giving me feedback on the track while it was in its early stages of production. Before I used OTT, fruity wave shaper was how I got the saturation on my basses. As I don’t have Serum, I use vital for most of my FM basses. Vital is a free wavetable synth which has in-built effects for saturation, phaser and other amazing effects. Vital is what I use for my basses on these types of tracks.

The track was supposed to be released in June, however life got in the way and I was never able to test it in a mix. Which meant I wouldn’t know how people would react to it. That played on my mind a lot which delayed the release, until now.

To celebrate my enrolment at pointblank music school, I released my first track in over two years (excluding the xmas remixes). D3ATH RACE (Zoom) got publicly released on YouTube on the 27th of September. I thought it’d never take off, but I’d soon be proven wrong.

One day, I decided to check my YouTube studio for comments and to generally check how the video is doing. I was surprised to see my video within a week had surpassed nearly 500 views. That blew my mind.

At the time of writing this blog, D3ATH RACE (Zoom) has gained approximately 1.4k views in it’s time being publicly released. Which is way more than any other video on my YouTube so far.

On my instagram, I announced that a VIP Remix would be released alongside another music project. To celebrate this HUGE milestone of D3ATH RACE (Zoom) accumulating over 1k views, I am announcing my new EP project which is currently in production.

The project is called DJ Leeloo Vol 1 and it’ll contain a wide variety of genres including Drum and Bass, Dubstep and Bass House. It will be the first EP I have released since 2021. I am also thrilled to announce that D3ATH RACE (Zoom) [VIP] will also be on the EP.

DJ Leeloo Vol 1 is currently in production and hopefully will be released in January or February 2025.

Stay Tuned.
